RL Roundup and a Meme

The old drama:
My dad’s doing much better. The hand surgeon still would like to put a pin in, but are hesitant to cause any more trauma to his hand. As long as the bone appears to be healing well and doesn’t move, they’ll leave his hand alone. It’s been doing just that, so far so good.
Newer drama that is now resolved:
I spent a long night with my dog last week. Working at a vet’s office allows you to keep much calmer in situations, but it doesn’t stop you from worrying. It just allows you to recognize the signs of when to worry and how much to worry.
That said, my dog spent most of Thursday night being sick. Regular vomiting was upsetting but not frequent enough to be alarming. It became alarming when he started vomiting up blood and having bowel movements that were pure blood. This was also done not in enough frequency for me to have to rush him to the Pet ER.
Longer story short, we took him into work Friday morning and he had a severe case of pancreatitis. We’re pretty sure he ate a bird in the backyard. We had seen the feathers but weren’t sure if a neighbor’s cat had eaten it or one of the dogs. No fun. But he’s better now.

Other than that, nothing much new. School continues to make me pull my hair out.Speaking of hair, I said that I’d post pictures of my hair cut.
The stylist always insists on spiking it after she’s cut it. I tend to wear it down. So here's both up and down.

Zachary Quinto:
When STXI was in the height of its hype ZQ was the face and voice that I kept hearing everywhere. I was bombarded with his lingual anecdotes and verbal barrages. As I looked more into the movie and those involved, my love of CP and KU soon overtook that of ZQ, but he still holds a geeky place in my heart.
Zombies:
Oh ZOMBIES. Where do I begin... XDDDD My roommate in college, who I’d known since pre-school, was a rabid zombie fan. I’ve watched so many zombie movies. We have this running joke with supernatural beings. I’m the vampire expert, Rach is the zombie expert, and Bubba is the werewolf expert. In the event of one of these taking over we have survival plans in place. There’s more detail I can go into, where my life and zombies converged. Liiiiikke the girl I knew who did her thesis on Zombies. That’s right her entire thesis was about zombies. But I’ll stop there.
Fairy Tales:
Hmm well this is two-fold. My mother was a big believer in reading and made sure we had a giant children’s library when my siblings and I were little. We had a lot of fairy tale books. But I also include mythology in the category of fairy tales (or faery tales). I love studying mythology, which also originated with those fairy tales and expanded from there. Tir na Nog, Asgard, Olympus, and so on. I’m still looking for that Chinese fairy tale that’s a verson of Cinderella but has a fish as the fairy god mother.
BtVS:
Ah Buffy! I remember watching the movie before the TV series. But then I watched the first episode of the series and was hooked. I adored Giles and Oz. Loved Angel. And it was so fun and fresh! I remember discussing the series for my Vampire Literature class, which, as I think of it, had a lot of non-literature as well. We discussed the impact BtVS had on society at the time. I love my degree. *grins*
Hugh Jackman:
Om nom nom. Hugh Jackman. I love him so much. Wolverine. Van Helsing. The man’s funny and charming. In one of my favorite interviews with him he discusses his wife and her reaction to him winning sexiest man alive. She sassed him saying “So they couldn’t get Brad Pitt huh?” XD They tease each other a lot. Snark is one of my favorite things. His wife is just this every day person. She’s not a supermodel or stick thin. He adores his kids. He SINGS oh god. Sometimes…when I daydream (alright my TAME daydreams) I imagine we’re in a Musical together. I also sometimes imagine some bizarre contest where we think of the most random songs and make each other sing them. (This is mostly my brain thinking it would be hilarious to have HJ sing “Barbara Manatee.”)
Glasses:
I have such a HUGE glasses kink. I’ve had it since I was very young. Kinks especially including glasses, red hair, big noses(as in Adrian Brody type noses), hands, feet, arms, and shoulders. (Oh Mmmm shoulders)
Harry/Draco:
Well…I’m a Harry/anybody person. Except Ginny really. :X (I know so bad of me!) But Harry/Draco is one of my favorites. Anger, family problems, light/dark dynamics. Makes for very fun stories.
OH! ALSO. Did you like my new icon? *grins* I have the movie from Netflix. I was thinking of doing a picspam once I'm done watching. Anyone interested?

I love your icon! When I was scrolling down my friends page and saw it, I squeed so loud! You definitely need to do a picspam, CP was so pretty in that movie.
