Damn hormones. I’ve been tearing up at the drop of a hat lately. There was a preview for the Old Yeller DVD while I was watching a movie. I teared up. A lot.

I’ve been real defensive too. Which is not helpful at work. People getting up in my face and telling me off for various reasons. Ex: Sir, we scan every animal that comes in for a microchip, whether they are an established client or not. Ask the other people in the sitting room. But please don’t freak out on me. (That’s something mild. Hit by cars and other problems are even less fun.) Normally I try to take it in stride. But there’s something going on that will definitely make me crazy. See the end of the post if you want the details. Marked with a ***

School continues to be very vexing. They want me to have a 3 semester plan—where I’ve listed all the classes that I plan on taking, and this plan needs to be signed off on by my advisor as well as the director of students. Which involves a lot of meetings and time. I was scheduled to meet with my advisor at 10am. I show up and he says “Oh was it supposed to be 10? Can we move it to 11?” (Last week we were supposed to meet from 10-11am and he scheduled a meeting with the Uni president at 10:30am. URGHH!!!!) He keeps getting annoyed with me for not getting my things done. Well all of those things require us to talk them over and him to sign off on them. Only he won’t sign off on them until we’ve talked it over and every time schedule to talk it over, he runs off! He’s only in 2 days a week and he’s the only adviser available for the whole department (the other one is on sabbatical). Today we FINALLY got it done. Although we spent the most part of the discussion talking about his dog and hip dysplasia. Knowledge, I has it and apparently he benefits. /end school troubles.

I finished “Surrender Dorothy” some time ago. I keep wanting to do that picspam but the charger on my laptop died and it’s the only one with a DVD player where I can take the screen caps. So I have to wait til I can afford a new one. Boo.

I keep thinking about books. The various series I’ve read, and what I’ve gotten out of them. My favorite genre is Young Adult and I have a large collection. I’m contemplating writing recommendation and summary posts about some of them. The lesser known authors, and the popular ones in the genre. But we’ll see.

Story:
Working on my Fairy Tale story. I thought this might be appropriate. Not relevant, but important.

Destination Truth:
This is a Big Giant SQUEE!
My boy is going to be back on television! Destination Truth is the only TV show that I watch as it’s airing, and that I watch consistently week-to-week. Usually they only air episodes in September and it’s usually only about half a season compared to other shows. But apparently it’s becoming more popular because they’re gonna air a new season starting soon! Soon I’m gonna be able to see more Josh Gates antics! Like those in this picture.

Here’s My Giant Complaining Blarghness

UK Trip:
So my family had been planning a big trip to the UK. It’s supposed to be my sister’s graduation present. She’s wanted to go to the UK since forever. (My trip was to Disney World.) At first it was just going to be my sister, her friend, and myself. Similar to the Disney trip where it was just my sister and myself. My parents really enjoy going to the UK, my dad goes there bi-annually for work and has taken my mother with him several times now. Since they like it so much, they want to go too. As soon as they said that, I knew. What with all the pets and various jobs, there was no way all of us could go. It took them 3 months to figure that out. My mom “dropped the bomb” day before yesterday. I officially get to stay home and watch the house and the dogs while they go around the UK. I’m bummed but I also expected it, so I’m not as bummed as I could be. *sighs*

P.S.-I should stipulate. I paid for a large part of my Disney World trip (and my sister's part as well). The only thing my parent's helped with was airfare. My dad has so many frequent flyer miles that we won't have to pay for flights for many years. It was the same thing here, I would have paid for my part, but they would have covered airfare, and since my sister has no means of income yet, they would have covered her part as well.  When I figured out I wasn't going to go, I stopped saving and used my part to cover school expenses this semester.

***Work.:
There’s always drama at work. Most of it I gloss over, it’s happened before, it’ll happen again and no one needs to hear about it. This one, however, got to me today. The latest drama is particularly un-fun. Vetsulin, the animal insulin, is being taken off the market because has been found ineffective. So every animal that is on it at our practice (and I assume other practices) will have to switch to a new insulin. We’ve been notifying owners and switching over their prescriptions to try and start getting them regulated. The only problem…the lowest cost human insulin is 3 times the cost of the Vetsulin. Today someone who was given the new script called me sobbing because there was no way they could afford the new insulin. They’ve decided their only option is to have their pet put down. They were angry, and rightfully so. It got worse and more complicated from there. I have a feeling a lot of these change-overs are going to go like that, and it breaks my heart.

Your work situation is absolutely horrible, bb, and I'm so sorry. I can't imagine having that phone conversation with anyone. But you know it's not your fault. It's a shitty, shitty situation and everyone involved is perfectly right to be mad, but it's NOT RIGHT for them to take it out on you. So don't feel like you're obliged to take it.

How can I cheer you up, bb?

*hugs* Thanks bb! I try not to take it personally. I'm just taking it one day at a time.

Hmm. I have heard some things about Vetsulin in my area... but as far as I know, we will still be carrying it. Sold a bottle today, as a matter of fact. It's been a very stressful situation, though.

We carry another brand of insulin for cats, PZI, that is like $95 a bottle. It boggles my mind.

But I agree that it is heartbreaking. I'm disgusted over the price of Rimadyl, for crying out loud, and that's one of the more tame overpriced medications out there.

*Hugs* Hopefully it gets better for you.

Also.

LOL GIANT UNICORN.

The makers of Vetsulin officially sent us a letter to hand out to clients, saying in lawyer talk, that they are taking it off the market soon, because the FDA is making them.

Rimadyl is pretty bad. I get disgusted with the fluctuating price of meds like hydroxyzine.

I hope it gets better too.

Unicorn love!

I would be totally interested in your book recommendation list if you choose to do one! Young Adult is one of my favourite genres too, I just feel like the authors have more imagination when they're aiming at that age bracket. Whereas with adult (fantasy at least) you can just get bogged down in the details :S

I'm sorry you can't go on your sister's graduation trip :( I know how it is though, we always have to work out who can go where, when because of our dog (we can't put him in a kennel, as he can't have his shots - long story). And naturally this year, we all want to go away around the same times.

And that absolutely sucks about your job at the moment. I'm sorry people are taking it out on you, but wow. A change like that must have come as a nasty surprise to a lot of pet owners :(

Yay! I was thinking like writing a small summary (not plot summary) of like 1 or more books at a time. I agree, there does seem to be more imagination on YA novels.

Aww, it definitely is no fun. But what can you do right? You love them.

Exactly, what a horrible thing to have to have thrust upon you. It's no fun for me, but a lot of them have to worry about their own food and bills, and to have something triple in price is awful.
